Now let’s look at Arden Cho’s journey and how she made her mark despite all the struggles.

When was Arden Cho Born?

Arden Lim Cho, aka Arden Cho, was born on August 16, 1985, to her mother, Young Nim Kang, and father, Sang Ho Cho, in Amarillo City in Texas, but she was raised in San Antonio and Plano, Texas, these places had few ethnic minorities, due to which she always felt like an outsider, she was often faced with bullying and even physically attacked twice, and was hospitalized, experiencing a tough childhood, she began spending most of her time learning Judo from her father, a grandmaster, and she has a little brother named Jason Cho.

Later, she attended Apple Valley Senior High School, and after completing high school, Cho got into the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign to pursue law, but her plans changed when she took her first drama class and developed an interest in acting; she went on to participate in Asian American Association’s Fashion Show, she also won Miss Korea Chicago in 2004.

After graduating and receiving her psychology degree, Cho spent the rest of her summer on a medical missionary trip to Kenya. She learned Stanislavski (from Ron Thomas) and Meisner techniques (from Corey Allen); these are theatre practices used by actors all around the world; she then went on to perfect the art of auditioning and cold reading from Scott Sedita and Deborah Quayle, her Improv Training is on point as well.

How did Arden Cho become an actress?

Arden had to work all kinds of odd jobs when she moved to Los Angeles in the hopes of having an acting career; even though she had zero experience, her first agency Anonymous Content took her in due to her musical and physically talents, and she appeared in commercials, films, television series, both in US and Aisa.

She was first seen in “The Break-Up,” although it was uncredited, Cho had the time of her life; two years later, in 2008, she landed her official role as Hyori in “My First Crush,” a short film, the same she got “Hoodrats 2: Hoodrat Warriors.”

The next few years went by with her being a part of short movies and videos, like “CSI: NY,” “Forgotten,” “Layover, on the Shore,” “I Am Not a Princess,” “Mega Python vs. Gatoroid,” “Ninja Say What?!”, “The Grey Coat” and “Pretty Little Liars,” she was also a guest star on “Rizzoli & Isles” and had supporting roles in “Walking the Halls,” “The Baytown Outlaws,” and “Mandevilla.”

Cho’s popularity rose only after her roles in “Hawaii Five-0” and “Teen Wolf,” she started as a recurring character as Kira Yukimura in season 3 but became a part of the main cast in season 4; she also landed a lead in the film “Stuck” and “The Honor List,” she was also a recurring character in “Chicago Med” and “Miss 2059.”

Arden bagged another lead in “Partner Track,” this role is close to her both professionally and personally as she wants to show that people are more than their racial backgrounds; being a female Asian American, she deserves equal opportunities both in the industry and as for her character in prestigious law firms too.

This insecurity arises from her childhood incidents of bullying and physical harm; to make matters worse last year (2021), she was faced with a similar situation; she was walking her dog at night when a man out of nowhere started shouting racist slurs at her; it scared her so much that Cho just caught her dog and ran for her life.

Arden then took to Instagram to express her fear and sadness over how it brought back all her childhood trauma, and she doesn’t feel safe anymore.

Cho is all booked till next year with TV series and films; a few upcoming projects are “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” “Flexx,” “Joon,” and “The Selection.”
