On March 28, 2022, a young, only 22 years old cricketer Ayush Badoni (born on December 3, 1999), made his debut in IPL 2022. He played for the new entrant in the Indian Premier League, Lucknow Super Giants wearing the number 11 jersey.

He played well against Gujarat Titans (GT) in his first game. When the senior batting order returned to the pavilion, only Ayush and Deepak Hooda led the team to a respectable total of 158 runs. Unfortunately, LSG lost his first IPL match, but Badoni displayed his talent, especially his capability to hit magnificent sixes.

The second game for IPL came on March 31, 2022, just three days after the first match. This time Lucknow team had to face 4-time champion MS Dhoni lead CSK (Chennai Super Kings).

LSG needed 34 runs over 12 balls when Badoni scored his first six, but the duo played well and scored 27 runs in the second last over, which means there were only seven left for the last six balls.

The young blood tried to hit another six on the last ball, whereas the need was only for a single run; the ball went far but could not clear the boundary as the boundaries were very long; in any other ground, it would have been a six.

Cricketing Career

Ayush Badoni started his cricket training at Sonnet Cricket at a young age, and with the mentorship of Balraj Kumar, he developed unmatching batting skills. He cleared the selection round for the India Under-14 team and proved himself by scoring three centuries.

But when the time came for U-16 selections, Badoni was left unselected. At that time, Balraj supported him and encouraged him to keep playing. Kumar motivated him to score double centuries so that selectors won’t be able to ignore him.

Luckily in the India U-19 cricket team, the young guy from Delhi was a part, and his batting helped win some crucial games in Asia Cup.

In the 2021 T20 tournament named Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, the young talent got to play five matches at the 7th number, which is not the right place for him.

At every IPL trial, he smacked balls out of boundaries, but selection for him came in 2022. After Balraj, Ayush joined famous coach Tarak Sinha’s academy, and his new coach used to say that “This player does whatever he feels like doing.” Mr. Sinha is not alive anymore, and the young blood dedicated his beautiful knock at IPL debut to him.
