Who was Mallory Beach?
Mallory Beach (April 18, 1999 – February 24, 2019) was a 19-year-old University of South Carolina student who died on February 24, 2019, in a boat accident in Beaufort County.
It came out that Paul Murdaugh, the younger son of the famous lawyer Alex Murdaugh, was driving the boat, and he was drunk, so he lost control of the ship, which then collided with the Archers Creek Bridge.
Soon after the death of Mallory, her mother filed a $50 million suit against the Murdaugh family. The other passengers on the boat that day also filed a case demanding millions of dollars as compensation. Paul never got to appear in court as he and his mother, Maggie Murdaugh, were gunned down at their farmhouse on June 7, 2021.
Currently, the Beach family is in the limelight because, on February 22, Netflix released a documentary titled “Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal,” which covers shocking tragedies tied to one of South Carolina’s most powerful families, the Murdaughs.
Where is Mallory Beach’s Boyfriend?
According to Cbsnews, Mallory started dating her childhood friend, Anthony Cook, in January 2019. They both made a great couple and were very happy, but sadly staying together was not in their fate.
The night when the accident occurred, Cook was also aboard the boat. Luckily he survived but could not save his love. Losing Beach broke his heart and motivated him to file suit against Alex Murdaugh for the careless actions of his son.
How did Mallory Beach Die?
On the late night of February 24, 2019, Beach and her 5 friends, including Paul Murdaugh, were on a boating ride. The coolers on the boat were filled with booze, and the driver, Paul, was highly dunk; under the influence of liquor, Murdaugh lost control and crashed it into the Archers Creek Bridge. Due to the impact, Mallory fell into the water and went missing; rescue teams found her dead body five days later.
Investigation revealed that Paul had bought beer with his brother Buster’s ID and had used his mom Maggie’s credit card. Renee Searson Beach did not wait longer and filed a $50 million lawsuit against Maggie and Paul. Two other accident survivors: Miley Altman and Morgan Doughty, also filed lawsuits claiming $5 million and $10 million as compensation.
The case ran for a few years, but in January 2023, Daily Mail revealed that the Beach family settled a dispute with Buster Murdaugh in exchange for a significant amount of money, although the exact figure is not revealed. The Beach family expressed their sympathy with the elder son of Alex as they believed he had already suffered a lot.
