Ryan Clinkunbroomer (age 30, 1992- September 16, 2023) served as a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy and tragically lost his life on September 16, 2023. Surveillance footage captured a black car ambushing Ryan in Palmdale and firing multiple rounds, leaving the young deputy injured. The assailants swiftly fled the scene.
A concerned passerby discovered the wounded deputy in his vehicle, prompting emergency crews to rush Ryan Clinkunbroomer to Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster.
Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. Hours later, a solemn procession escorted Clinkunbroomer’s flag-draped body to a van, transporting him to the county medical examiner’s office east of downtown Los Angeles.
During this sad journey, a motorcade comprised of numerous police and fire vehicles accompanied the fallen deputy. Along the route, law enforcement officers and firefighters paid their respects at various overpasses, standing at attention and saluting in honor and remembrance.
Ambushed In Palmdale
On September 16, 2023, Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer (30), a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officer, fell victim to a surprise attack in Palmdale while conducting his routine patrol duties.
At the time of the incident, Deputy Clinkunbroomer was fully uniformed and operating a marked patrol vehicle, having recently departed the Palmdale Station and traveling northbound on Sierra Highway.
Arriving at the intersection of Sierra Highway and Avenue Q in Palmdale, Deputy Clinkunbroomer found himself alone in his vehicle. It was then that he was ambushed, rendering him unconscious. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan discovered him shortly after that and promptly alerted the personnel at Palmdale Station.
Swift action was taken, and Deputy Clinkunbroomer was swiftly transported to Antelope Valley Medical Center. The dedicated medical team at the center made valiant efforts to treat the gunshot wound he had sustained. However, despite their best efforts, the injuries proved fatal, tragically leading to his passing.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department expressed profound gratitude to the compassionate and dedicated medical professionals at Antelope Valley Medical Center for their tireless endeavors to save Deputy Clinkunbroomer’s life. The motive behind the attack and whether there were multiple assailants remained uncertain at that time.

A widely shared video from the scene captured a secondary vehicle traveling alongside Deputy Clinkunbroomer’s patrol vehicle, a crucial element under careful examination in the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have appealed to the public for assistance in identifying and locating the vehicle and its occupants. The vehicle in question is described as a dark grey 2006-2012 Toyota Corolla. In response to this tragic loss, Board of Supervisor Kathryn Barger conveyed her heartfelt emotions, deeply affected by the passing of Deputy Ryan Clinkunbloomer.
To encourage cooperation and information sharing, she presented a motion during a Board of Supervisors meeting, proposing a $100,000 reward for any valuable information leading to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the individual(s) responsible for Deputy Clinkunbloomer’s untimely demise.
Mayor Laura Bettencourt reassured the community, affirming the city’s unwavering support and dedication to utilize all available resources, expedite investigations, and bring the perpetrators to justice.
In a display of solidarity, the city pledged to match the county’s $100,000 reward, thereby contributing an additional $100,000 from the town of Palmdale toward the apprehension and conviction of the responsible individual.
ALADS (Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs) also stepped forward in this pursuit of justice by offering a $50,000 reward for the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the tragic murder of Deputy Ryan Clinkunbroomer.

In 1993, Ryan Clinkunbroomer (age 30)was born to his father, Michael Clinkunbroomer, and his mother, Kim Etzel Clinkunbroomer, in California, America. According to sources, Ryan belongs to a family of Police officers; his father, Michael, was also in the Police Department and his grandfather.

Ryan was very happy; his mom even shared photos on her now-deactivated Facebook account. Sadly, just four days after the engagement, someone shot and killed Clinkunbroomer in broad daylight.
