Sabrina Peckham (age 41, January 15, 1982 – September 22, 2023) was a woman whose life remains were discovered in the jaws of a nearly 14-foot-long alligator in Florida.

This unsettling event unfolded in the city of Largo on September 22, 2023, when a person going for a job interview spotted the giant reptile playing with what turned out to be her remains in a creek.

Law enforcement was promptly alerted, and upon arrival at the scene, they made the difficult but necessary decision to euthanize the 13-foot 8.5-inch-long alligator humanely. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office identified Sabrina Peckham’s body the following Saturday, but the exact cause of her death remained undetermined.

According to locals, this distressing incident transpired just before 2 pm on September 22, leading deputies to respond to an unincorporated area of Largo. A dive team was dispatched to recover Sabrina Peckham’s remains from a nearby canal.

Adding to the poignancy of the situation, Sabrina’s daughter, Breauna Dorris, confirmed through a social media post that her mother had been homeless and living in a wooded area nearby.

Peckham Was Arrested in July

Per official court records, Sabrina Peckham, a woman experiencing homelessness in Florida, was apprehended by Pinellas County authorities at approximately 6:30 am on July 14. The charge was trespassing onto a county wetland just half a mile from the tragic location where her life ended on September 22.

It appears that she ignored posted warnings regarding unauthorized access. Having been sentenced to pay a fine of $500, Peckham was released on September 8 after entering a plea of no contest to the misdemeanor charge.
