Zara Phythian (born on October 5, 1984) is a 37 years old British actress, martial artist, stuntwoman, and Guinness World Record holder. She is known popularly for Brunette Zealot, the character she played in the Benedict Cumberbatch’s Marvel movie “Doctor Strange” in 2016. Zara has also worked on international projects like in an Indian film called “Aashiqui: True Love.”
The year 2022 is hectic for her as she is working on nine different projects, like “Macbeth,” “Unit 19,” “Accident Man 2,” “Argh,” “Martial Art Roadshow,” and “Citadel. The lady is a fighter and knows five different martial which include Kickboxing, Taekwondo, Boxing, Karate, and Thai Boxing.
Sexual Assault Allegations
In 2022, everybody got shocked when news came that a girl whose name is kept unknown for legal reasons filed a complaint against Zara and her husband, Victor Marke. As per the BBC, the girl in her 20s accused the couple of repeatedly assaulting her sexually.
The girl, now an adult, claims Phythian and Marke plied her with alcohol and had sex with her between 2005 and 2008. The victim also accused Zara of daring her to give oral sex to Marke, who sometimes used to film the whole act.
She told the police that she knew it was wrong, but she could not find a way out of the situation. The couple is now facing 14 charges against them, but they denied all of them. The alleged victim also stated that Marke used to threaten her with breaking her knee caps if she told anybody. The case is now in court.
Career as a Stunt Coordinator and as an Actor
After learning MMA, Zara participated in World Martial Art Championship and became 13 times champion. She also created a world record for kicking off the most items of people’s heads in one minute. The first movie that she got to work in was a low-budget production called “Crops,” in which her role was of a lady called Snipe.
After the first acting job, Phythian worked in a few short movies like “Enter the Streets of Myth” and “End of Anger,” but she did not lose hope. Luckily in 2007, her career took off, and she got a role in Oliver Morran’s movie “Underground.”
Till 2016 Zara worked in different productions like “Warrioress,” “He Who Dares,” “The Hike,” “Landlord: Time to Pay the Rent,” and “Aashiqui: True Love.” In 2016 came her most significant opportunity, which was to perform the role of Brunette Zealot in Benedict Cumberbatch’s starer “Doctor Strange.” The movie received success worldwide, and Zara’s character got very popular.
