Zolisa Xaluva (age 41) was born on June 13, 1981, in New Brighton, South Africa. During an interview with MacG, he revealed that, growing up, life was beautiful in New Brighton, but he spent only 11 years there before moving to Pretoria.

A few years later, his father, a manager at a tire manufacturing company, received a promotion, following which the whole family shifted to Johannesburg.

He felt tilted toward acting during high school and participated in numerous school plays. Following school, he attended various drama schools and polished his talent with a dream of being a successful actor one day.

As an aspiring actor, the first few years of his acting career were hard for Zolisa, but ultimately with the help of an excellent agent, he cracked an audition and landed the part of Khutso in “uGugu no Andile.” It was a Minky Schlesinger project packing an exciting storyline and an incredible cast, including Neil McCarthy, Daphney Hlomuka, and Motlatsi Mafatshe.

Zolisa Xaluva’s Career

As Xaluva’s career progressed, he kept getting more opportunities. He worked in numerous TV commercials but later stopped working for brand promotions because, in South Africa, actors do not receive a fixed royalty which he considers an unfair treatment towards artists.

Continuing work in the acting industry, Xaluva debuted in the film world in 2018 with a movie titled “Sew the Winter to My Skin.” It was a South African Film and Television Award-winning movie, the story of which revolves around the 1950s troubled rural South Africa; actors like Kandyse McClure, Peter Kurth, David James, and Robert Whitehead were part of this project.

His performance in “Knuckle City” was tremendous, and some consider it one of Zolisa’s best works. Xaluva’s fans eagerly wait for his movie/show, but he is very picky and takes his time to study the script; only then he signs the contract, which is why we rarely get to watch him. These days he is being talked about because of his “Kings of Jo’burg” and “Blood Psalms.”
