Charlbi Dean Kriek (born on February 5, 1990) was a 32-year-old South African model who worked in the modeling industry from 1996 to 2010 and later stepped into the acting business also.
According to records, she started her acting journey playing Amanda in a Donovan Marsh-directed comedy movie called “Spud.” She was also in the CBS crime drama “Elementary,” where she worked alongside stars like Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Aidan Quinn, and Jon Michael Hill.
In 2019, Pauline Hansson signed her for “Triangle of Sadness” and assigned her the lead role, Yaya. It was Dean’s first project as the protagonist, and she was pleased about it. The shooting of the film began in 2020, and it was scheduled to be released on May 21, 2022, at Cannes Film Festival.

Doctors had to remove her spleen, and the absence of the spleen weakened her immunity over time.
As per the said sources, a bacteria named Capnocytophaga entered Kriek’s body and caused sepsis. Dean’s body could not fight back, which took her life.
